World's
smallest precision Fiber Optic Gyro offering
an optimal blend of accuracy, low cost,
and reliability
The
ultra-compact KVH DSP-1500 fiber optic gyro
(FOG) offers a new solution with outstanding
performance for demanding commercial stabilization
and pointing applications. The optical sensor,
containing a single strand of fiber in a
housing only 1.5 inches in diameter, is
connected via a tether to the power and
processing electronics. As a result, the
components may be installed separately from
one another, making the DSP-1500 ideal for
installations and applications with size
and weight restrictions. However, the small
size of the DSP-1500 doesn’t mean
you have to sacrifice precision and reliability.
With a scale factor of ≤0.1%, and
bias stability of <5°/h, it offers
extremely low noise and high bandwidth with
minimal motion-to-output latency to support
exceptional operation in a wide range of
environmental conditions.
The DSP-1500 relies on KVH's patented Digital
Signal Processing (DSP) technology. The
breakthrough design overcomes the limitations
of analog signal processing, virtually eliminating
temperature-sensitive drift and rotation
errors. As a result, its exceptional low
noise (ARW), insensitivity to cross-axis
error, and shock and vibration robustness
make the DSP-1500 ideal for a variety of
demanding applications, including applications
that require precise measurement of rate
and turning angle.
