C A CLASE IS APPOINTED UK DISTRIBUTOR FOR SAAB TRANSPONDER TECH

C A Clase, the UK's leading distributor of marine electronics for leisure and commercial users, has recently been appointed a UK distributor of SAAB Transponder Tech. SAAB Transponder Tech is a leading developer and provider of shipborne AIS and VTS systems for coastal and maritime applications worldwide. Primarily aimed at the superyacht and commercial sectors, the company is expanding into the leisure market with the introduction of the R4 Class B AIS Transponder designed for recreational craft. C A Clase is introducing the entire SAAB Transponder Tech product range to its extensive portfolio of communication, navigation and entertainment products.

The R4 Class B Transponder is a low cost AIS tracking application that can be used as a stand alone unit or connected to an AIS enabled chart plotter or electronic chart system. Featuring a built in GPS which generates position information for broadcast, the unit also communicates on the same radio frequency as Class A Transponders and Search and Rescue aircraft, enabling a complete situational picture of all AIS equipped ships within VHF range to be displayed.

The benefit of improved situation awareness means vessels in distress can be seen from a Search and Rescue unit, making the craft easier, faster and more accurate to locate. Other advantages include shore AIS base stations are able to monitor ships locations and movements, making surface traffic safer whilst also improving fleet management. The Class B AIS Transponder offers optional functionalities including a key alarm, sensor inputs and digital outputs and has also been designed to comply with IEC 62287 FDIS.
